It’s starting to feel like spring outside! We have some fun events in the works for the warmer season. We will still be hosting outdoor events in an abundance of caution. In May, we will celebrate Lyle’s first birthday! Lyle’s actual birthday is May 19th but we aren’t announcing the party date until we know what the weather forecast looks like. There will definitely be delicious homemade cake, cat themed games, and prizes like any good birthday party.
We would like to host a few rummage sales during the summer. If you have items to donate, please contact me and we will arrange pick up/drop off. (No furniture or very heavy items please.) Our rummage sales double as opportunities to let the public know about our sanctuary and our mission. We would love to attract more supporters, volunteers and foster home providers. These events are weather dependent but if you think you’d like to volunteer for the day of, please let us know.
We will be participating in GiveBIG again this year. We would love to have more folks create FUNdraising pages - this is a “campaign” that individuals personalize and then email to their contacts. This helps us reach far more people and turns some new people onto Flower Feline Sanctuary. I’ll be sending emails and posting on FB to enlist FUNdraiser volunteers just before GiveBIG. It’s pretty easy even for non-tech savvy people!
By now you know that we are volunteer run, and that all donations go directly to kitty medical care, food and litter. Last week Charlotte had dental surgery with extractions. With the necessary lab work prior to anesthesia and the medications to go home, the cost was around $1,500. This is not extraordinary, as anyone with a cat or dog at home knows. We want to be able to care for each kitty as best as possible, just like any kitty guardian. This is also why, at this time, we plan to keep the sanctuary small. We strive to increase our impact by fostering adoptable cats, helping with trap/neuter/return, and teaching best practices on feline enrichment and behavior within the cat community.
We hope to see you at our events this spring and summer!
